Harapan's polling agent lodges report on hacked handphone

GE14 | A polling and counting agent (Paca) has lodged a police report after suspecting that his handphone was being hacked to send nonsensical messages to members of the public.
Paca chief coordinator for Pakatan Harapan in the Bukit Lanjanstate seat, Adrian Yeo, 36, said he received more than 30 messages and calls from strangers since last night, scolding him for lewd messages that purportedly came from him.
Among others, he was accused of sending messages to some people to pay up unpaid debts and reminding them to pay after visiting his spa, Yeo said.
Besides that, rude remarks were also thrown at the members of the public, according to him.
"I didn't call nor send these messages to the unknown people. This was done by certain quarters," he told reporters after lodging a report at the Gombak district police headquarters.
"Those who received these calls and messages were angry, some even threatened me and my family," Yeo said.
He suspected that his phone number was hacked last night, at 11.30pm.
'This is gutter election strategy'
Some of the unknown people only asked for his whereabouts, he said, and he became concerned for the safety of his family and himself.
"This shows the kind of gutter election strategy adopted. This is hitting below the belt," he added.

Yeo suspects that this tactic was being used to anger voters so that the people would vote against the Pakatan Harapan candidate for Bukit Lanjan, Elizabeth Wong.
Wong accompanied Yeo to lodge the report and the two also intend to lodge another report with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
