Chempaka, Kelantan -The late Nik Aziz Nik Mat’s son Nik Adli has locked the gates to the cemetery where the former PAS spiritual leader is buried, and blockaded the entrance with a lorry ahead of a planned visit by Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
“We see that there’s a vested interest (in the visit). If he (Mahathir) wants to visit, he can come after the elections whether he wins or loses,” Nik Adli tells Malaysiakini.
Kelantan Pakatan Harapan chief Husam Musa says Mahathir’s visit to Nik Aziz’s grave has been postponed for now.
9.05am: Chempaka, Kelantan – Dr Mahathir Mohamad is expected to visit the grave of late former PAS spiritual leader Nik Aziz Nik Mat to pay his respects.
He is expected to be accompanied by Nik Aziz’s second son and Pakatan Harapan Chempaka candidate Nik Omar.
However, another of Nik Aziz’s sons, Nik Adli and his supporters, plan to stop Mahathir and his entourage, saying the family does not consent to the visit during the campaign period.
Mahathir has two other programmes in Kelantan today, meeting with people in Kok Lanas, Ketereh and Kampung Cherang, Kota Bharu respectively.
