Police are on the hunt for Sungai Besar Umno division head Jamal Mohd Yunos (above) after he disappeared from a court proceeding being conducted at a hospital where he was warded.
According to Selangor CID chief Fadzil Ahmat, Jamal was chargedby a magistrate at the KPJ Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital but disappeared during the bail proceedings.
"He left the hospital during the documentation process for his bail this evening.
"We will reach him (soon) to complete the process," said Fadzil.
Attempts to reach Jamal for comments were unsuccessful while his WhatsApp chat log showed that he had not been active since May 10.
Jamal was receiving treatment for back pain at the hospital.
He is facing three charges under Section 268 of the Penal Code for causing a public nuisance in relation to a protest he had participated in on Oct 5 last year.
Jamal had smashed several cartons of beer bottles in front of the Selangor state secretariat building to protest against the Better Beer Festival then.
If found guilty, he can be fined up to RM400 on each charge. -Mkini
