Jeffrey Kitingan ‘chairs’ meeting at Sabah ministry office

KOTA KINABALU: While all eyes were focused on “shortlived” Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman, his deputy Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan (pic) turned up for duty at the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry office at Jalan Penampang on Monday.
Confused ministry staff members then ushered him into the conference room.
It is still not clear what he briefed them on or what he did.
Like Musa, who was sworn in as Chief Minister on Thursday (May 10), the Sabah STAR president believes that he is still a valid state Cabinet member.
A day after the May 9 polls, Dr Jeffrey announced that Sabah STAR, which won two state seats, would work with Barisan, which bagged 29 seats, to form the state government with a simple majority of 31 members in the state assembly.
However, Musa’s private secretary received an official letter from Istana Negeri informing him that he was no longer Chief Minister effective May 12.
Musa's aide Effendy Mohd Sunoh received the letter from the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin's private secretary Abinan Asli at the BDC restaurant in Kolombong here.
Earlier, officials from Istana Negeri had turned up at Musa's private residence at 11.15am Monday.
However, the security guard informed the officials that Musa and his family were not at home.
Musa was removed as chief minister with the swearing-in of Parti Warisan Sabah president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal as Sabah’s 14th Chief Minister on Saturday (May 12).
Musa however maintains he is still the Chief Minister.- Star
