Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng today lodged a complaint with MACC against former Federal Territories minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor over the alleged sales of 64 plots of state land involving some RM4.28 billion, between 2013 and 2018.
According to reports, Lim alleged that the transactions, comprising public housing under Rumah Wilayah Persekutuan (Rumah WIP) and high-end residential developments, were done without open tenders and below market price.
"Some state land belonging to DBKL (Kuala Lumpur City Hall), were transferred to Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan, of which Tengku Adnan was the chairperson," he said.
According to four members of the Protect Taman Desa Coalition, who filed the complaint with Lim, two parcels of state lands in their neighbourhood have been sold to private developers - not to develop affordable public housing, but to build a commercial complex.
They said previous reports have been lodged with the MACC, in 2016 and 2017, about the sale of state land in their area, without an open tender.
A TNB reserve land was also sold to a private developer, they alleged.
When contacted by Malaysiakini, Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan CEO Zaizalnizam Zainun said that to his knowledge, only 10 plots of land was transferred to Yayasan from the Land Office, and two plots, from DBKL.
"Although it was reported 64 lots had been transferred, we only know about the 12 lands currently managed by us and we don't know about the rest.
"Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan is not a governmental organization, but a private limited company which prioritizes citizens, and is not profit- driven."
When asked whether Tengku Adnan knows about the said transfers, he said: "We are certain he knows better, as he was a former minister of Federal Territories and a trustee in Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan." -Mkini
