No more 1Malaysia slogans and greetings, Dr M tells ministries

Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has instructed all ministries to cease using the "1Malaysia" slogan and greeting, which was a hallmark policy of his predecessor Najib Abdul Razak.

This is according to a leaked document circulated to the staff at the Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK) informing them about the contents of the meeting between Mahathir and the secretaries-general of all ministries on Monday.

KPDNKK officials have confirmed the contents of the message.

The secretary-general of another ministry, who spoke on condition of anonymity, also confirmed to Malaysiakini the contents of the message were what they discussed with Mahathir on Monday.

The document said the practice of using the 1Malaysia logo on corporate shirts, certificates and other items should stop.

Furthermore, it said greetings should either be "Assalamualaikum" or "Salam Sejahtera".

The practice of saying "Salam 1Malaysia", "Salam Negaraku" and "Salam Negaraku Malaysia" should cease.

The document also said staff should stop using the 1Malaysia and Negaraku pin.

Other directives include:

1. The Kedai Rakyat 1 Malaysia 2.0 programme to cease
2. Jualan Sentuhan Rakyat programme to cease
3. The Cooperatives Commission of Malaysia to cease charges GST on services
4. Board meetings of the Cooperatives Commission of Malaysia and committees which have political appointees to be postponed.
