PETALING JAYA: In a video broadcast on Facebook, Barisan Nasional chairman Najib Razak has made fun of Dr Mahathir Mohamad for being inconsistent with his replies and remarks.
Najib said he would normally watch the YouTube channel at night and had watched one of Mahathir’s press conferences. Amanah’s Mohamad Sabu was on Mahathir’s right and Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail on his left.
“With a calm face, Mahathir says he has not detained anyone. But Mat Sabu (detained twice under ISA) is beside him and Wan Azizah’s husband was detained under him,” he told voters at a ceramah in Kuala Terengganu. “And he says I am the one more cruel.”
In his speech, telecast through Facebook, he brought up other examples.
Mahathir had earlier made it clear that he would be prime minister for two years if the opposition were to win. “Later on, he says he needs more than two years,” Najib said.
Mahathir said he had no shares in the Loaf bakery. Later, when the Companies Commission of Malaysia stated he had RM10 million shares in the company, then Mahathir said, “ah yes, it is his,” Najib added.
Mahathir had said Immigration and Customs officers had conducted checks on him at Kuala Terengganu airport while preparing to fly to Subang.
However, Immigration officers said no checks were carried out, “because for domestic travel. there are no checks. But he can say that he was checked by the immigration,” said Najib.
Najib said Mahathir was being used by the DAP to draw Malay votes, and asked voters whether the DAP would build an Al-Quran university for Muslims or strengthen Universiti Teknologi Mara.
“If you vote for DAP, it might destroy us,” Najib warned the voters.
