GE14 | Nik Abduh Nik Aziz is still sore at his older brother Nik Omar's decision to contest under Pakatan Harapan against him for their late father Nik Aziz Nik Mat's traditional seat.
Nik Abduh, who sounded hurt, said Nik Omar's decision to contest the Chempaka state seat in Kelantan was totally unexpected.
"On the day of nominations when I was about to leave the house, my mother told me that he (Nik Omar) is going to contest.
"I said that was impossible because the previous candidates list announced did not include his name, and it did not strike me at the time that he wanted to contest," Nik Abduh told reporters in Kota Bharu.
"I didn't suspect anything because Nik Omar is a filial son to our mother, and he always heeds her words. Even though I am the one staying at home with her, he had taken over many of the household affairs," said Nik Abduh.
He was speaking to the media after casting his ballots at the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Raja Sakti, a polling centre for the Panchor state seat and Pangkalan Chepa parliamentary seat.
Earlier, Nik Omar, who is Harapan's candidate for Chempaka, also cast his ballot at the same centre, which is also where his late father had voted in the previous elections.
Nik Abduh, who is running for PAS in Bachok, meanwhile said it is up to Nik Omar to mend ties with their family after the elections.
"All of our siblings supports our mother, and this relationship is up to Nik Omar himself.
"He has gone against one of the most basic requirements of the religion, that one must be filial to their mother," Nik Abduh claimed.
He also claimed that none of their family members had been in contact with Nik Omar since nomination day.
Nik Omar, while on the campaign trail for Harapan, had repeatedly denied claims that he did not get his mother's blessings to contest against PAS.
The second son of Nik Aziz also said no mother would reject her children and that while he cares for his young brother, Nik Abduh should also show respect towards him. -Mkini
