Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak today said he had to ride in a car to Pekan as he could no longer fly to his destination.
"This morning, I took a vehicle to Pekan because there was no more airplane.
"I departed at 9.30am and arrived at 12.10pm," he told a gathering of more than 500 supporters in Pekan today.
However, Najib said taking a car gave him the opportunity to observe the development along the highway.
"I looked at the highway and asked who built this highway - It was Umno and BN.
"Entering Pekan town... I looked to the right there was a car factory, an automotive university. Who brought in these investments?" he said as the crowd shouted "Najib!".
Najib said the development was not only in Pekan, but the same could be observed throughout the country.
He has been known to travel in the government jet with tail number 9M-NAA as he zipped around the country.
Najib had also been criticised for taking his family members on the government jet on overseas trips.
Najib led BN to its first defeat since independence during the May 9 general election, ending the coalition's 61 years in power.
His defeat came amid rising cost of living and the 1MDB scandal which the new Pakatan Harapan government under Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has vowed to address. - Mkini
