The nine Perlis BN assemblypersons who boycotted the swearing-in ceremony of Menteri Besar Azlan Man are expected to back down.
According to Star Online, the nine are expected to accept Azlan's appointment and apologise to the Perlis ruler (above).
The report said that an assemblyperson who requested anonymity said the nine had held a meeting recently and agreed to back Azlan's second term as menteri besar.
"We are not disloyal to His Majesty as we are his subjects," said the lawmaker, adding that an official announcement would be made soon.
Meanwhile, Umno acting president Ahmad Zahid told Star Online that the crisis in Perlis will come to an end soon, without providing further details.
Perlis is the only state without a cabinet so far. Azlan was sworn in for a second term as menteri besar last week. BN won 10 out of 15 seats in the Perlis legislative assembly.
By convention, the state ruler will have to appoint a lawmaker who enjoys the confidence of the majority of his peers to lead.
When the Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail chose Azlan as menteri besar, the nine revolted and lodged police reports on the grounds that Azlan's appointment was against the Federal Constitution and state laws.

Perlis BN chief Shahidan Kassim also moved to have Azlan sacked from Umno, although it does not appear this move had been followed through. -Mkini
