Rosmah hopes new gov't will allow Permata to keep shining

Rosmah Mansor is hoping the current government will not pull the plug on her brainchild the National Permata Programme (Permata), which the wife of former premier Najib Abdul Razak has repeatedly described as being close to her heart.
However, she said the current circumstances required her to focus her attention on her family with regard to the ongoing 1MDB investigation.
“To me, my immediate concern is this family, and people have got to understand that. You know previously, I was always taking care of people's families until I forgot my family.
“So now, this is the time to take care of my family. The responsibility should be from home. I would like to see Permata carry on, but I leave it to the present government. Whatever they deem fit.
“But I just want to apologise to the parents and children that these things happened, and I hope they are able to take it as well, because I am very close to all of them,” she told Malay Mail Online.
In February, Rosmah had said she would not step down as patron of Permata in the face of pressure from the then opposition.
“Various accusations were hurled at us, as though I had pressured the government to increase the allocation for Permata, as though I had misappropriated the Permata funds for personal benefits.
“Whatever the people want to say, it's all right, for the sake of the Malaysian children, all the false accusations from the opposition, even though they are bitter for me to swallow, I just ignore them.
“I am confident that Allah SWT is always behind those people who are doing good.
“I strongly hold to the principle that all children are assets and a jewel to the country, and have the same right to grow together as cheerful children and become the nation's human capital,” she said.

Rosmah said Permata had become a manifestation of a successful nation and this was proven by the fact that 500,000 children had succeeded in undergoing pre-school educational programme at the Permata centre during the period 2007 until 2017. -Mkini
