Syed Hamid tweets for 'change'

GE14 | With polling for the 14th general election less than 24 hours away, yet another former minister has urged Malaysians to vote for Pakatan Harapan.

In a series of tweets since last night, former foreign, and home affairs minister, Syed Hamid Albar said it is time to build a Malaysia on "nationalism based on unity, excellence, integrity, responsibility, and trust, by voting for one Harapan."

He followed this with another tweet "This is not a hint. It is clear who we should vote."

Syed Hamid's stint in the cabinet had largely been under Mahathir's 22 years of premiership between 1981 and 2003.

The veteran politician had also, in two other tweets last night, said that "change" will be refreshing and rejuvenating.

"Let us now think as one Malaysia that love our nation to have credibility and integrity at the regional and international levels, and respected for what we are. Have the courage and willingness to sacrifice for the right thing. We must be relevant and change for a better future."

"If we don’t learn from history then history will punish us to become part of the story history. If we can’t change from within, let us bring the change from outside. It will be refreshing and rejuvenating," he had tweeted.

Syed Hamid, who had served as the chairperson of the Land Public Transport Commission (Spad) under caretaker prime minister Najib Abdul Razak's administration, had recently written an open letter, urging Malaysians to vote with their conscience, in order to usher in a "positive change" in the election.

“Vote with your heart. Vote sincerely. Let good judgment prevail. Vote for people with integrity, honour, transparency, accountability and those who are hardworking and trustworthy, so that these qualities can be imbued in a government they represent,” he had said in the letter. - Mkini
