‘WHEN IT COMES TO WORK, DON’T MESS WITH ME’: IRON LADY RAFIDAH TAKES ON BN ‘MAT REMPITS’ WHO TRIED TO SCARE HER AT BANGSAR CERAMAH

KUALA LUMPUR — Over 50 Barisan Nasional (BN) supporters rode by on motorcycles, waving party flags and honking while Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz was speaking at a Pakatan Harapan ceramah tonight. The “Iron Lady” had paused her speech to give way to the piercing sound while the motorcyclists rode past the main road near the ceramah location in Lucky Garden here.
Ceramah attendees booed the motorcyclists, who disrupted Rafidah’s speech for about three minutes.
“We are talking about serious governance… about solving big issues. Not only to hold ceramahs and ride on motorcycles… sorry lah,” she said as the audience cheered in support.
Speaking at her third PH ceramah, the former international trade and industry minister of 21 years told the audience to vote for the Opposition pact in order for them to correct the wrong.
As she felt the country’s management has gone astray too far from its track, the feisty 74-year-old said PH should be given the mandate to govern the country in order to bring it back on track.
“This management, it is not new management. This is led by those who are seasoned, and Tun Mahathir did good management back then,” she said, referring to the Opposition chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
The audience of hundreds that flooded the road had responded with cheers and applause as they turned up to rally in support of PH Lembah Pantai candidate Fahmi Fadzil.
Also present were Opposition Bukit Lanjan state seat candidate Elizabeth Wong and Petaling Jaya candidate Maria Chin Abdullah.
Rafidah had last night stumped for PH at a ceramah in Taman Tun Dr Ismail and made her first appearance in the GE14 campaign trail for the Opposition coalition in Bukit Katil, Melaka, on Friday alongside her mentor Dr Mahathir.
Rafidah had yesterday been sacked along with former finance minister, Tun Daim Zainuddin, from the Malay ruling party over her show of support for the Opposition bloc.
In response, Rafidah said she had not been an Umno member for the last 10 years.
“They are sacking a non-member. I was amused. They don’t know what they are doing when they don’t even know who is a member or not,” she reiterated.
The presence of Dr M, Daim, and Rafidah had drawn great attention to the ceramah held by the Opposition pact, nationwide.
