Who's this bloody woman to challenge me, asks Daim

GE14 | Former finance minister Daim Zainuddin is known to be reclusive and soft-spoken.

However, when questioned on former Bersatu member Anina Saadudin's challenge for him to declare his wealth, the ex-Umno veteran offered a scathing response.

"Who is this bloody woman? Who is she to challenge?” he told reporters in Shah Alam.

“Does she know history or not? She used to support (Bersatu chairperson Dr) Mahathir (Mohamad), now she is supporting (caretaker prime minister) Najib (Abdul Razak).

"Don't try and (challenge). Mahathir has won the hearts of Langkawi folk," he added in reference to the parliament seat which the former premier is contesting.

Daim was met after a campaign session for Pakatan Harapan's Shah Alam candidate Khalid Samad, Kota Anggerik candidate Najwan Halimi and Batu Tiga candidate Rodziah Ismail.

The session was attended by some 100 supporters.

Earlier, another former Umno veteran Rafidah Aziz also did not mince words in responding to Anina's challenge.

“Assets acquired through hard-earned and honest income is none of her bloody business,” she told Malaysiakini.

At a press conference yesterday, Anina had described Daim, Rafidah and another former Umno veteran, Rais Yatim, as Mahathir's “old cartel”.

She challenged the trio to declare their wealth.

Mahathir's son, Mokhzani, had also demanded proof from Anina with regard to her allegation that he had amassed a massive fortune of RM170 billion and owned 488 companies.

The former premier's critics, including Najib, have repeatedly claimed that Mokhzani enriched himself via Petronas contracts when his father was in power. -Mkini
