Yoursay: Enough of crying victim, MCA should stand and fight

YOURSAY | ‘I initially admire Heng for her cool in facing the comments of the woman…’
Anonymous_4c430498: MCA's Cheras candidate Heng Sinn Yee, I am totally shocked that you uttered the words, “Chinese bullying Chinese”. That comment itself shows what MCA is all about.
I am Chinese but I only think myself as Malaysian. You are playing the racial game. If you think you are fighting for Chinese, then it is way too late. We are not in the 60s.
If you are sincere in your political belief, then this should be a wake-up call. Not just for yourself but for everyone in MCA.
MariKitaUbah: Heng, the woman who told you that she would support BN to become the opposition did not shout at you nor did she reject your offer to shake hands; you are the one who went to her and she shook your hand.
So who bullied you?
Petson01: I am a retiree staying near the Yulek market. Most mornings, I would walk to the market for my breakfast of fried meehoon and kopi-O.
Since the introduction of GST, the price of meehoon has increased from RM1.80 to RM2,50 and kopi-O from RM1.40 to RM1.60. I could only afford this until tea-time where I have a cheap meal of economy mixed rice at the shop around the corner.
Heng, have you observed the increasing number of elderly citizens and Bangladeshis eking out a living by scavenging for cardboards and recyclables at the 7-11 stores and shops around the market area?
The economy is getting worse with rampant corruption, GST, tolls, fuel price increases, unemployment, etc. What has the government done to help?
Please don't bring in race and gender issues. I would have done the same as the brave woman had done if I were to meet you that morning. Anyway, I wish you luck in your endeavour.
NoFaham: Actually, I initially admire Heng for her cool in facing the woman at the market. However, when she starts to cry that she was bullied, it showed her lack of character.
Odin Tajué: Heng, I haven't watched the particular video - indeed, I don't watch videos and listen to music online - and so I am making a general comment here.
If you have in fact been bullied and insulted, then you should have fought back. However, you have not. That does not portray the image of someone with true grit.
But, based on what I have read of the report of the episode, I fail to see how you have been bullied and insulted. The other woman was merely expressing her disapproval of BN, and the others around her concurred.
Next thing. If you have been trapped as you imagined, what is there to fear? Whoever it was that set the stage, so to speak, could only have induced the small group of people at the market to act out the scene.
That person would not be able to compel them to vote for the opposition if they actually supported your coalition.
Another thing. Making the accusation of the DAP having the culture of bullying and hating is an infantile action, the releasing of a blast of foul-smelling air that will dissipate and be gone in seconds but inflicts nothing.
You have a long way to go, madam.
Anonymous 2456321485312809: The witty sarcasm used on you is definitely an accurate reflection of the sentiment against your party. That is not bullying.
You will only end up attracting more scorn by twisting the incident to try and make yourself look like the victim here.
Trueglitter: It is acknowledged that in politics there are no permanent friends or permanent enemies, only personal interests.
Which is why the surprising and inappropriate emergence of the much-disgruntled Heng to publicly lament her displeasures over the unsavoury remarks vented toward her by members of the public should not be considered an issue by any means.
Members of the public have their right to express their personal views and opinions, however much they may differ from those expected and to feel slighted in any way at the differences of opinion would be deemed both premature and most inappropriate.
Politicians should be wary of their role and be fully forearmed with the ability to take on whatever that is thrown at them during their campaign trails, particularly during a time prior to an election and for those whom are unable to withstand the whirlpool-pace or the heat of the escalating campaign should rightly “get out of the kitchen”.
Heng’s disgruntlement is not unexpected due to the overwhelming tide of public condemnations levelled at MCA leaders, Liow Tiong Lai and Wee Ka Siong, who are perceived as both toothless and voiceless within the BN coalition.
It will do Heng well to be fully prepared to countenance more vitriolic rhetoric from the punishing and unforgiving public, particularly Chinese Malaysians, for the loss of trust and dignity caused by the MCA leadership who are glaringly keen to only showcase their self-claimed importance.
Hot Khong: MCA and Heng are trying to play the sympathy card. If this politician has such a thin skin, then get out of the game.
And don't make this a gender or race issue because the woman who shook Heng's hand didn't comment about her gender or race.
6th Generation Immigrant: Now we can all understand why MCA does not feel bullied by Umno, they truly cannot see or understand what bullying is.
They have been brainwashed so badly, that one will not be wrong to assume that MCA, MIC and Gerakan suffer the Stockholm Syndrome.
We know at least one BN leader feel cheated by Umno – M Kayveas.
Dudeno: Respect and trust is earned. When you step out into the world to canvass for an alleged thief, be prepared to face hostility.
Guess what? People don’t like to be robbed.

Anonymous 1607021442717254: On election day, the entire Cheras community will decide who bullied who. - Mkini
