Ijok assemblyperson Dr Idris Ahmad has repeated his denial in the cheating of National Higher Education Fund (PTPTN) through a college linked to him, as the amount purportedly involved is "peanuts" to him.
Speaking at a press conference, the gynaecologist said he can cover the amount of the higher education loan with a single operation he conducts.
"My main aim of calling the press conference is to tell the world that I am not involved in this dirty scandal. You can check for yourself, to take money from PTPTN is peanuts to me.
"(If) I do one operation, maybe can cover (that amount)," he told the press conference at his residence in Petaling Jaya.
He also revealed that his bungalow, in which he has lived for the past 12 years, even before he was an elected representative, cost RM8 million.
Idris was responding to the allegation that he had cheated students of their PTPTN loans, which went viral on social media yesterday. He has lodged a police report on the matter.
He also questioned the timing of the allegation which coincides with the swearing-in of the new Selangor menteri besar today.
Idris, whose name was once touted as one of the three candidates for the position, admitted that his chance to be appointed was dim, as he was informed about the swearing-in process.
