The hearing for leave to cite Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor for contempt has been fixed to be heard on July 19 in the High Court in Kuala Lumpur.
This date was informed to reporters today by Izwan Iswatt Mohd Noor, the lawyer for the Umno 16 who had filed a challenge against Umno organising secretary Abdul Rauf Yusoh and the Registrar of Societies on Umno's legality.
Izwan had earlier informed Justice Nordin Hassan that he was instructed by his clients to continue with the committal proceedings.
"The judge advised us to serve the necessary cause papers to Tengku Adnan, which we will," he said.
The 16 want to cite Tengku Adnan with contempt following a statement he issued on April 21 that they had been sacked from the party.
On April 20, the 16 led by Salihudin Ahmad Khalid filed an application to seek leave to proceed with a judicial review to quash the ROS decision to allow the party a time extension in order to hold its leadership elections.
However, their application for leave was dismissed by the High Court on April 27. - Mkini
