KUALA LUMPUR: Four burglars gained entry into the home of fugitive politician Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos (pic) in the Klang Valley - by pretending to be his bodyguards.
The incident is believed to have happened at around 8.30am on Sunday (June 17).
Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Fadzil Ahmat told The Star that the men stole sunglasses, clothes, handbags, a luggage bag and two CCTV decoders.
“We have not ascertained the value of the loot the four managed to escape with.
.“The security guard lodged a report over the incident, claiming that the men told him they were bodyguards.
“The men said they had not been paid by Jamal and wanted to take clothes and shoes,” he said, adding that no arrests have been made so far.
SAC Fadzil said police were investigating the case as burglary under Section 380 of the Penal Code.
Jamal is currently on the run, and a warrant of arrest has been issued against him. This is for not showing up for the remention of his case for smashing beer bottles at the front gate of the Selangor state secretary (SUK) building in October last year.
On May 25, Jamal pleaded not guilty to the charge of causing public nuisance.
The proceedings were conducted at the Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital in Kuala Lumpur where Jamal was undergoing treatment for his back pain.
However, he was reported missing from the hospital at 5.30pm the same day by the Shah Alam Court Registrar who handled his bail documentation process.
He is believed to have fled to Indonesia, but Jamal continues to deny this, claiming he is still in the county.
He has posted a number of videos online, alleging that he was being unfairly targeted.- Star
