Otai Reformis have threatened to stage a protest outside the Perak secretariat building if Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu does not explain his decision to appoint former Umno assemblyperson Zainol Fadzi Paharudin as his adviser.
"As members of Otai Reformis, we will very offended and strongly protest the appointment of Zainol as the menteri besar's adviser, which carries the same rank as an exco member, as well as other appointments from among Umno-BN leaders.
"These appointments have betrayed our fight against Umno-BN since 1988. We give the menteri besar one week to explain the appointment.
"If we are not given an explanation, we from Otai Reformis Perak along with Pakatan Harapan supporters will hold a protest against this issue in front of the state secretariat building," said the group's secretary Akhi Nosa Iskandar in a statement today.
Otai Reformis are demanding a "heart-to-heart" meeting with Faizal to get an explanation on Zainal's appointment.
The group also urged de facto Pakatan Harapan leader Anwar Ibrahim to intervene in the issue, so that restraint is shown in such matters moving forwards, and will not be repeated again within Harapan.
"Our protest will be done because we know the pulse of the rakyat, which has been oppressed by the rule of Umno-BN," he said.
Zainol, the Sungai Manik assemblyperson, was sacked from Umno after expressing support for Faizal to form the state government in Perak.
He subsequently joined Bersatu, and was later appointed as an adviser to the menteri besar. -Mkini
