EVEN IF ENTIRE SUPREME COUNCIL FOLLOWS MUSTAPA & QUITS, UMNO MUST PURSUE PAS LIAISON – NAJIB PROTEGE LOKMAN ADAM ADVISES ZAHID – EVEN AS DR M’S BERSATU SIGNALS ITS DOOR IS OPEN TO MUSTAPA

KUALA LUMPUR, 26/2/2018. International Trade and Industry Ministry Minister, Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, at the press conference, during the “MITI Day 2018” at MITI Tower. picture by Hari Anggara.
KUALA LUMPUR – More Umno leaders will follow Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed in leaving the party, claimed Datuk Lokman Adam.
In a Facebook video, the Umno supreme council member “guaranteed” these would include those from his level up.
He accused these of being turncoats and enemy agents, adding that they were spread out in the party.
“Let’s not go too far. In our Supreme Council today, I dare guarantee there are those who are prepared to leave the party,” Lokman said.
He urged Umno to accept the possible departures as an opportunity to clean house.
Lokman added that an exodus would also allow Umno to more fully explore its budding liaison with PAS, saying this would allow them to win the next general election.
“Let’s not give up. Even if our entire Supreme Council leaves, let them be. I believe that with the new cooperation with PAS, we will get more Malay seats,” Lokman added.
Mustapa, a former international trade and industry minister and Umno member of four decades, resigned yesterday citing disillusionment with the party’s growing conservatism.

The Jeli MP is a known moderate and considered one of the party’s most reasonable voices.

The bulk of Umno’s top leadership joined the annual PAS Muktamar last week, to pay homage to the Islamists.

Tok Pa’s resignation spells end of Umno, says Syed Saddiq

BERSATU Youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has described Mustapa Mohamed’s departure from Umno as the beginning of the end for the Malay party.
Syed Saddiq said the Umno Supreme Council member, known as Tok Pa, was among the Umno leaders who had his admiration and respect.
“I still admire and respect him, not only because he is a leader of vast experience, but also because of his deeds and contributions to the country which cannot be denied.
“When I heard that he quit Umno, I was shocked… it is the end of Umno… to lose someone like him is a big loss to Umno.”
He said this to reporters after appearing in the public debate series, Re:Action-Youth Engaged, yesterday night, at Malaysian International Islamic University, which co-organised the event with the Youth and Sports Ministry.
The three other debaters were Asia’s Best Debater 2018 Ahmad Syarifuddin Ahmad Fakhir, Kolej Yayasan United Engineers Malaysia student Kishen Sivabalan, and Sekolah Seri Puteri Cyberjaya fourth former Atiyah Khairuddin.
In a statement yesterday, Mustapa said he had decided to quit Umno after more than four decades as the party’s political principles no longer matched his.
On whether Mustapa was welcome to join Bersatu, Syed Saddiq, who is the Youth and Sports Minister, said yes
“I hope Tok Pa will join us for the sake of the future of Malaysians because he is a very good leader; but if he does not, I will still respect him.” – Bernama
