Residents of Kampung Bukit Kuda in Klang have urged Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to stop “little Napoleons” from misusing his name in ways that would sully the image of the Pakatan Harapan administration.
In a memorandum to the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya this afternoon, residents claimed that one 'Dato Khairul' had previously threatened to demolish their homes, and said he was under orders from Mahathir himself.
They also claimed that this 'Dato Khairul' had been accompanied by uniformed police officers when the threat was made.
Today, the residents urged the prime minister to investigate this claim and put an end to such practices.
“We, the representatives of Kampung Bukit Kuda have come to the PMO to seek the prime minister to stop people from misusing his name and to investigate this ‘Dato Khairul’ for abuse of power.
“We also urge action to be taken on the police officers who accompanied the ‘Dato’ without proper legal reasons.
“And we want ‘little Napoleons’ like this to be stopped from ruining the image and good name of the Harapan government,” the memorandum read.
Residents representative Manis Baba had on Hari Raya Aidiladha, Aug 22, lodged a police report over the issue.
According to the report, which Malaysiakini has sighted, 'Dato Khairul' claimed to have a court notice to tear down the houses, but could not produce it when asked.
He had been accompanied by five other men – one named Faizal, who claimed to be the landowner, and four police officers.
Manis claimed one of the police officers had pointed to his firearm when the villagers tried to oppose them.
'Everyone claims they Mahathir's aides'
Today, Manis and a group of residents were accompanied by PSM central committee member S Arutchelvan, who said he was concerned about how groups were now wantonly using Mahathir’s name.
“This is actually just a way for them to tear down the house, they will use all sorts of tactics and now they are using Mahathir’s name.
“We want to highlight this issue because we are concerned that this trend will continue, and many people will go around using Mahathir’s name,” he told members of the media.
Arutchelvan further questioned who the 'dato' in question actually was, given that he was accompanied by uniformed police officers.
The group handed the memorandum over to Mahathir’s new political secretary Abu Bakar Yahya, who promised to show it to the prime minister.
“We will investigate, We don’t know who (the 'dato') is, everyone claims they are an aide to the PM.
“Reports like this are good, I hope the public will make (police) reports like this if anyone claims they are from the PMO or any other ministry,” Abu Bakar said. - Mkini
