Official: Harapan wins Seri Setia, PAS increases vote share

SERI SETIA POLLS | Pakatan Harapan's Halimey Abu Bakar has won the Seri Setia seat for Pakatan Harapan with a 4,027-vote majority.

Halimey received 13,725 votes, beating out PAS' Dr Halimah Ali with 9,698.

With BN's support, PAS' vote share had increased 31 percent, from 10.39 percent in the May 9 polls to 41.4 percent in this by-election.

This is more than PAS and BN's combined vote share of 32.89 percent during GE14.

Harapan's vote share, meanwhile, decreased from 66.62 percent to 58.6 percent.

The by-election was triggered by the death of PKR incumbent Shaharuddin Badaruddin on Aug 2.

In GE14, the late Shaharuddin won the seat with a 19,372-vote majority in a four-cornered fight against BN's Yusoff M Haniff, PAS' Mohd Ghazali Daud and independent candidate S Vigneswaran. - Mkini
