Former minister Rafidah Aziz has responded to Najib Abdul Razak's question regarding an allegation she had levelled prior to the 14th general election.
“Why is Najib so impatient to be hauled in... And to be questioned on that and possible links to 1MDB?” she said in a message to Malaysiakini this evening.
Rafidah also claimed there is a cabinet paper to prove her allegation and the current government could release it.
In April, she had alleged that a three-person company owned Defence Ministry and military land, which then defence minister Hishammuddin Hussein denied.
This afternoon, Najib recalled the allegation and another by Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad regarding Bank Negara's reserves.
Describing it as slander, the former premier claimed that the allegation was aimed at stoking the anger of military personnel before GE14.
Najib asked what had happened to the allegations, pointing out that Pakatan Harapan which has been in power for five months, could initiate investigations into these issues.
“But until now, there have been no announcements or statements on these two serious allegations,” he said in a Facebook posting.
Meanwhile, Rafidah said that Hishammuddin's successor Mohamad Sabu has announcedthat her allegation is being investigated.
The former Wanita Umno chief also responded to Najib's remarks about her invoking Allah's name when making the allegation.
“Of course I always invoke Allah Almighty because I present only facts and want to speak before The Almighty as my witness. No politicking, no rubbish, no malice.
“After all, we are already witnessing the retribution of the Almighty on Najib & Co...when against all odds he and BN suffered defeat in GE14.
“Must he (Najib) still question the ultimate power of Allah Almighty, and the need for us puny humans to defer to His will, and to always remember never to betray the people's trust?” she added. - Mkini
