KUALA LUMPUR: An MPV that almost rammed a police team in the city was found to have been a rented vehicle.
City police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim said the suspects were still being hunted, adding that the windows of the vehicle were tinted black and the team could not see inside it.
“The MPV was identified to have been owned by a woman and was rented out. Investigations are ongoing to track down the suspect who rented the MPV.
“The car was tinted black and the police personnel there could not see how many suspects were in the vehicle.
He urged the public to assist the police by sharing any information on the vehicle and the suspects.
Yesterday, the driver of a tinted MPV tried to escape from a police check in Dang Wangi after a policeman tried to stop the vehicle.
In the midst of escaping, the MPV almost reversed into the policeman and other vehicles, which led to five shots being fired in self-defence.
However, the driver managed to escape with the vehicle.
Investigations are still ongoing to trace the vehicle and the suspects involved.
The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder. - Star
