PM defends 'fast learners' in cabinet, rules out reshuffle

INTERVIEW | Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad reiterated that he has no plan to reshuffle his cabinet as the performance of its members has been up to par.
Though admitting they are novices, Mahathir stressed that the members of his cabinet are fast learners, and can perform as well as experienced ministers given time.
"I don't see why I should reshuffle the cabinet. There will be no cabinet reshuffle. Am I clear?" he told a special media interview in Putrajaya this afternoon.
Asked to rate the performance of his cabinet, Mahathir scored it at five out of 10.
"I am conservative. I have been in the government for 22 years.
"I know how the government functions, but these people are new. They don't know how the government functions," he said.
"On top of that, they are afraid of making mistakes, and all this makes decision-making more difficult.
"But they are learning fast," he added, noting how some ministers improved after coming to him for guidance.
