The Sabah National Security Council continues to carry out the repatriation of illegal immigrants to their home country and yesterday 192 Filipino detainees were sent back via Sandakan Port to Zamboanga, Philippines.
Security Council director Sh Sitti Saleha Habib Yussof said 156 were men, 29 women and seven children.
The repatriated illegal immigrants were aged between two and 70 years, she said in a statement.
According to Sh Sitti Saleha, the Sabah Security Council will tomorrow send home 106 Indonesian detainees through Tawau Port to Nunukan, Indonesia.
She said the repatriation process of illegals to their country of origin was the government's continued commitment in addressing the problem of illegal immigrants in the state.
In addition to the deportation of illegal immigrants, the government has also taken proactive steps in efforts to locate and arrest illegal immigrants.
Sh Sitti Saleha said the number of illegal immigrants deported, including voluntary returns, since 1990 until yesterday has reached 582,139 people.
