Three people were injured when a concrete structure at a building under construction near the Gombak LRT station along Jalan Taman Melati, Kuala Lumpur, collapsed earlier this morning.
According to the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department operations centre, two teams comprising 46 personnel from Wangsa Maju Fire and Rescue station and Gombak Selatan Fire and Rescue station were sent to the scene following an emergency call received at 1.13am this morning.
"Upon arrival at the scene, it was found that there was a concrete structure that collapsed at a building under construction with an estimated size of 50 x 50 square feet," said operations commander M Murugiah as quoted by the operation's centre statement.
"There were three victims involved. Two victims were sent to the hospital, while one Indonesian man was still trapped underneath the rubble," said Murugiah as of the time the statement was prepared.
He further said that police dogs from the K9 unit were used to detect whether there were other victims trapped, as the team carried out work to remove the concrete structure.
Aside from the fire and rescue personnel, others involved in the operations include seven police personnel, eight Malaysia Civil Defence Force personnel, three Health Ministry personnel and 10 others from the Kuala Lumpur City Hall.
Meanwhile, Putra LRT management, through its Twitter account @MyRapidKL, said the construction site was not located within the Gombak LRT station. - Mkini
