Photo’s a fake, Shafie never approved cockfighting licences, says aide

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government said a photo showing Chief Minister Shafie Apdal with a caption declaring that he had approved cockfighting licences in the state is a fake.

The photo has gone viral on social media.

“The chief minister had never approved any gambling or cockfighting licences in the state,” his political secretary, Jo-Anna Sue Henley Rampas, said in a statement today.

She said the actual photo was taken during a press conference after Shafie had launched the new state library building at Tanjung Aru here on July 25.

The edited photo, however, shows the logos of the state library, Immigration Department, Home Ministry, Warisan and National Registration Department.
