PAS assistant secretary-general Syahir Sulaiman has refuted party spiritual leader Hashim Jasin, who suggested that the termination of three Perlis representatives' membership was not final.
In a statement published on social media, the Bachok MP also denied that the termination was PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s decision.
Instead, Syahir pointed out that it was based on a clause in the PAS constitution that was passed by the party's muktamar last year, which stipulates that any termination of a PAS lawmaker's membership is considered "final decision".
"This was the resolution made by the muktamar (annual general meeting), the party's highest decision-making body," said Syahir, who is also Hadi’s political secretary.
Last month, PAS terminated the memberships of three Perlis state assemblypersons - Saad Seman (Chuping), Fakhrul Anwar Ismail (Bintong), and Ridzuan Hashim (Guar Sanji), who took part in a move to oust then-menteri besar Shukri Ramli.

‘Room for resolution’
Earlier today, Hashim told Malaysiakini that there was still room for a resolution regarding the trio’s status, as all decisions by Hadi are still subject to the syura council.
According to him, efforts to find a solution to the issue are underway and are expected to be finalised soon.
"As for the meeting the other day, what I can say is that efforts to find a solution regarding these three assemblypersons are being actively pursued.
"InsyaAllah, we are confident this can be resolved soon," he said, adding that the trio have submitted their appeals to the council.
When asked about the PAS president’s reported decision to reject the appeals of the three assemblypersons, Hashim stressed that the final authority still lies with the syura council.
"The council still exists, so the president is still subject to it in this matter," he said.

‘No rift’
Syahir further said that PAS leadership was only executing the muktamar's mandate when it terminated the lawmakers' party memberships.
He said the decision made on Dec 24 last year was based on the trio's own statement to a PAS committee during a meeting at the party headquarters.
Syahir also dismissed any perception that there is a rift between PAS top leaders following Hashim's statement.
"As for the relationship between the PAS president, the mursyidul am, all members of the PAS central committee, and members of the syura ulama council, it has always been strong, insyaAllah." - Mkini
