Malaysia remains committed to UN peacekeeping efforts, says joint force commander

 

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia remains committed in giving strong support for United Nations (UN) peacekeeping efforts, says Leftenan Jeneral Datuk Zahani Zainal Abidin.

The Malaysian Joint Force Headquarters Joint Force commander said the safety and security of peacekeepers must remain at the core of the country's collective efforts.

"We remain committed to effective implementation of agreed outcomes and to strengthening the sustainability and impact of UN peacekeeping operations," he said during the closing of the UN Contingent-Owned Equipment (COE) Working Group Meeting held at UN headquarters in New York.

The meeting, which was held Jan 19 to 30, saw military adviser Kolonel Shamsuri Nordin elected Vice-Chair of the Sub-Working Group on Major Equipment. - Star
