PN SECRETARY GENERAL Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the four-party alliance remained intact, dismissing speculation of internal rifts. He also denied attempts to sideline Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin.
“We are in a coalition. How could we sideline anyone, including Muhyiddin? PN comprises four parties, and all four are intact,” he said.
“We are united, and there is no issue. The same applies at the state level. We govern four states, including Perlis, and PN remains cohesive,” Takiyuddin added.
He joined PAS President Hadi Awang in denying talks of division among the ranks of PN leadership. Takiyuddin also described the PN retreat as a routine annual programme.
According to him, the retreat is a regular annual event, held at the beginning of the year, usually in January. He said nothing out of the ordinary was discussed.
Takiyuddin continued that it was mainly general planning at the state level, including preparations for upcoming elections. The next expected elections are in Melaka and Johor.
Yesterday, a former aide to Muhyiddin urged the Pagoh MP to resign, claiming the former prime minister’s leadership was no longer appreciated by certain factions within the party and PN.
Datuk Dr Marzuki Mohamad said that Muhyiddin had faced consistent criticism both from within and outside the party.
“Muhyiddin has come full circle. He too is only a human being, not a pure angel, not a revered religious scholar. Many are now waiting to applaud if the Muhyiddin exit project succeeds. There is no point leading a group of people who do not know how to value your leadership, and instead regard you as their greatest liability,” he said, according to reports from Berita Harian. —Focus Malaysia
