KOTA BARU: A cosmetics company founder has alleged that her 19-year-old daughter was assaulted by the teenager's former fiancé, a social media influencer.
The incident is believed to have occurred on Feb 21, when the teenager was allegedly beaten, choked, kicked and dragged by the 20-year-old man, leaving her with bruises and swelling across her body.
Fara Sharina Zamari, 37, said her daughter, the eldest of four children, had gone to the man's house in Kedai Lalat to break fast at 6.30pm before returning home at 10pm.
"When she came home, something seemed odd, and there were reddish marks on her neck. My daughter only complained of pain to my husband but did not reveal the real cause.
"For two days she kept it to herself before telling us what had happened," she said when met today.
Fara Sharina said she was shocked that the man could act in such a manner and later took her daughter to seek treatment at Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital.
A police report was lodged at the Kota Baru district police headquarters on Feb 24.
She added that she called off her daughter's engagement to the man following the incident.
"My daughter was supposed to get married on the 10th of Syawal, but it was cancelled after what happened," she said.
Fara Sharina said that after the report was lodged, her daughter's former fiancé fled for 12 days before surrendering at the Kota Baru district police headquarters about six days ago.
"However, he was released on police bail three days ago.
"Today, I lodged another police report because I do not want the man to continue disturbing my daughter, who is now severely traumatised," she said. - NST
