SHAH ALAM: Investigation papers into the gang robbery case involving two police inspectors accused of robbing a businessman of more than RM300,000 and gold bars have been submitted to the legal adviser's office at Bukit Aman for review.
Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the papers were submitted to the legal adviser's office to obtain further legal opinion and advice on the next course of action as the suspects involved police officers.
"Investigations into the case had also been completed following the arrest of all suspects involved.
"All suspects have been arrested by the Gombak police headquarters, with the last two suspects detained yesterday. They are currently under remand to assist in investigations.
"InsyaAllah, for this case, we have obtained positive findings and if there are further developments, we will share them accordingly," he said during a press conference.
Shazeli added that initial interrogations found that all the suspects knew one another and had planned the robbery together.
"The mastermind was believed to be a civilian," he said.
Previously it was reported that a 50-year-old cosmetics trader was allegedly robbed by a group of men who introduced themselves as policemen and claimed they were conducting an inspection at his home.
The suspects allegedly instructed the victim to remove about RM300,000 in cash and two 100g gold bars from his safe before placing them in a cloth bag and handing it over.
The group later fled the house in a van, prompting the victim to lodge a police report after realising he had been deceived.
Police subsequently launched a special operation beginning March 2, which led to the arrest of six men, including three civil servants — two police inspectors and a policeman — as well as three civilians.
The case is being investigated under Section 395 of the Penal Code for gang robbery and Section 170 of the Penal Code for impersonating a public servant. - NST
