ONE wonders if Muslim convert preacher Firdaus Wong Wai Hung should be working quietly behind the scenes with the police by furnishing information that can lead to the arrest of perpetrators whom he accused of threatening the lives of anti-kuil haram (illegal temple) activists.
Doesn’t this sound a logical solution instead of ‘blowing up’ the matter on social media which not only paints the cops in a bad light but also unveiled his own agenda of seeking publicity to the extent of stirring up the emotion within his rightist fanbase?
This follows the alleged attack on fellow anti-illegal temple activist Cikgu Chandra’s house and property yesterday afternoon (March 10) which even prompted the Multiracial Reverted Muslims (MRM) founder “to seek help from a friend to move Cikgu Chandra’s family to a Muslim majority housing area for their safety”.
“Location is being withheld,” penned the Jinjang, Kuala Lumpur-raised preacher who also founded Malay language news portal The Merdeka Times. “Hopefully the police will soon arrest all the attackers and instigators behind the incident.”
Apparently, Cikgu Chandra had contacted Firdaus to inform the latter that three parang-armed men had attempted to break into his Puchong home after having entered the compound and broken both the windows of his car and house.
Recall that the former private school teacher whose real name is S. Chandrasegaran had on Feb 11 detained for allegedly uploading seditious Facebook posts, in particular the use of offensive labels notably “botol kicap” towards his own Indian community on the subject of land encroachment related to illegal houses of worship.
In his subsequent FB posts, Firdaus – knowingly or unknowingly – has not only cast aspersions towards the cops and authorities at large but also accused several political personalities as the perpetrators.
“If this’s not a threat and no strict action is taken, what message are we actually sending to the rakyat?” he berated.
“They are not sympathising and condemning criminals but rather supporting criminals! “Threateners like Tamilan Eswaran who was once suspended by MIC for attacking others. Instigators like @rsn_rayer (Jelutong MP RSN Rayer) and David Marshell (Urimai deputy chairman) as well as bankrupt Arun (Hindu activist Arun Dorasamy)!”
Earlier, Firdaus has even wondered if he would be “the next target” following the latest attack on Cikgu Chandra given fellow Muslim convert Zamri Vinoth was “attacked earlier in Penang” after his Gerakan Anti Rumah Anutan Haram (GARAH) co-founder Tamim Dahri “was surrounded”.
“I’m prepared from the beginning. I’m often seem alone because they don’t know the ‘others’ around me. When lightning strikes, its strikes,” he penned.
In his latest series of FB posts which caught the attention of his rightist fanbase with many of them calling for “a united Muslim front given the cops are incapable of protecting innocent lives”, Firdaus further shared CCTV footages of the latest attack whereby three of Cikgu Chandra’s cars were burnt at 3.19am today (March 10).
“They just burned all three of Cikgu Chandra’s cars. They’re getting more violent!” he rued. “TERRORISTS! Hope PDRM (Royal Malaysia Police) can immediately arrest all the instigators and attackers of Cikgu Chandra and Zamri Vinoth.”
This was followed by a subsequent post just moments later whereby Firdaus lashed out that “we can’t allow such extremists to run rampant! This is a country of LAW!” while labelling the perpetrators as “extremists” – a rather nerve-wrecking term with the connotation of treachery, betrayal and disloyalty to one’s motherland.
“Punish the instigators and extremists immediately before their actions burn the country down!”
Well, reporting the ill-fate that has befallen Cikgu Chandra to gain sympathy is one thing but inciting racial and religious sentiments subtly in between the lines is itself a form of provocation with dangerous consequences that Firdaus might or might not be aware of. – Focus Malaysia
