PAS bans comments on ‘current developments involving other parties’

 The party says leaders and members may only issue statements if given 'special permission' by the top leadership.

PETALING JAYA:

PAS has issued a gag order barring its leaders and members from issuing statements or comments on “current developments involving other parties”.

PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said all members are not permitted to issue any statement on these developments unless they obtain “special permission” from the leadership.

“We ask everyone to remain calm and leave the matter to the party president (Abdul Hadi Awang) and leadership, who will prudently manage it as soon as possible,” he said in a statement.

While Takiyuddin did not elaborate on the “current developments” mentioned, the gag order comes after Hadi said PAS is reassessing its alliance with Bersatu.

This morning, Hadi said the party was looking into the possibility of contesting the next general election (GE16) without the Muhyiddin Yassin-led party, which is a fellow Perikatan Nasional component with PAS.

The Marang MP said the decision resulted from a series of actions by Bersatu that his party found unsatisfactory.

Hadi said this included Bersatu’s Negeri Sembilan assemblymen backing down after initially agreeing to align with Umno to form a new state government. - FMT
