MELAKA:
A retired policeman was found dead in a house in Taman Bukit Katil here last Sunday after neighbours reported a foul smell coming from the residence.

Police said a post-mortem conducted at Melaka Hospital found that the victim died of a heart condition.

Melaka Tengah district police chief Christopher Patit said police received a MERS999 call at about 6.30pm and dispatched a team of officers to the scene.

“A team from the fire and rescue department was later called in to break open the door of the house. The 64-year-old man was found lying face down in the living room.

“Preliminary checks by the investigating officer and personnel from Melaka Hospital found that the man had died. A physical examination of the deceased found no signs of foul play,” he said in a statement today.

He said neighbours reported that the victim, who lived alone, had not been seen leaving the house for four to five days. - FMT
