Fuziah says has 'evidence' putting Rafizi, Nik Nazmi on the hook for RM10m bond

PKR secretary-general Fuziah Salleh claimed to have time-stamped evidence that Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad had already joined Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama) on Saturday, thereby violating their 2022 election bond with PKR.

She said the evidence refuted the duo's planned timeline to avoid paying PKR RM10 million in penalties each.

The election bond requires PKR candidates to remain with the party until the end of the term.

Yesterday, when unveiling their plans to jump ship to Bersama, Rafizi and Nik Nazmi said they would submit their resignations as MPs today, and then quit PKR and join Bersama tomorrow.

This sequence of events, Rafizi said, would void their election bond with PKR, which he said is only applicable to those who kept their seats.

However, Fuziah (above) said evidence showed that the duo had already made the jump to Bersama on Saturday.

"I have evidence they have joined Bersama. In Bersama's website, there's a time stamp (that they registered) on the 17th," she was quoted as saying by Utusan Malaysia today.

‘Listed as Bersama’s leaders’

When contacted, Fuziah revealed to Malaysiakini that the evidence referred to Rafizi and Nik Nazmi being listed as Bersama's leaders on the website.

However, this does not mean that they have formally submitted membership applications, as Rafizi said he intended to do on Tuesday.

Fuziah said PKR legal advisers will study the matter further before deciding whether or not to sue the duo for the RM10 million penalty.

Utusan Malaysia also quoted Fuziah as saying that the PKR political bureau will be discussing action against all PKR MPs who were present at the Bersama launch event during their meeting tomorrow.

Besides Rafizi and Nik Nazmi, there were six PKR MPs at the event yesterday, namely: Bakhtiar Wan Chik (Balik Pulau), Wong Chen (Subang), Rodziah Ismail (Ampang), S Kesavan (Sungai Siput), Zahir Hassan (Wangsa Maju), and Lee Chean Chung (Petaling Jaya). - Mkini
