VETERAN journalist and blogger Datuk A. Kadir Jasin was spot on when he deduced recently that pigs are lethal political pawns that could make or break the Madani government alliance.
In this regard, one wonders if Selangor UMNO has defied the Madani government’s esprit de corps by sanctioning all its 22 divisions to count themselves as part of the claimed 5,000 estimated turnout in yesterday’s (May 16) PAS-inspired Himpunan Daulat Tuanku rally.
The rally which commenced at the Shah Alam Mosque compound before the participants marched in unison to the main stage in front of the entrance to the Selangor State Secretary’s Office is intended to slam the Madani government for being derhaka (treacherous) to Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah in its handling of the state’s pig framing issue.
Aside from PAS and UMNO, the rally also counted Bersatu, Pejuang, Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia (PUTRA) and Pertubuhan Pribumi Perkasa Malaysia (PERKASA) in addition to some 300-strong Malay NGOs.
Obviously, at the core of the condemnation is ‘swine easter’ DAP with courageous Seri Kembangan state assemblywoman Wong Siew Ki reminded for the umpteenth time “kindly leave Selangor for disrespecting our Sultan”.

Sadly for Pakatan Harapan (PH), the emotionally-charged event camouflaged as derhaka to the Selangor ruler to the extent that His Highness is highly enraged a.k.a. murka is nothing more than a ploy by PAS to undermine the PH-led Madani government.
But again, who can blame UMNO who has begun to lose its soul in the unity government as testament of the country’s oldest political party relishing the prospect of going solo come the 16th General Election (GE16).
Such indication has become pretty obvious with UMNO/Barisan Nasional (BN) boldly unveiling its plan yesterday (May 16) to contest in all 56 Johor state assembly seats come the state poll which must be held before Feb 25, 2027.

Insisting for an apology
Very broadly, the peaceful rightist-slant Daulat Tuanku gathering was organised as a sign of solidarity in defending the sovereignty of the Malay rulers, the sanctity of Islam and the rights and privileges of the Malays.
Selangor PAS Youth chief Mohamed Sukri Omar stressed his party’s commitment to continue defending the monarchy from any action deemed to challenge its position.
Meanwhile, Selangor UMNO Youth chief Datuk Imran Tamrin contended that the monarchy cannot be equated with other administrative institutions because of its higher position in the national system.
Commenting on the choice of location for the gathering at the Selangor State Secretary’s Office (SUK) as opposed to the front of the Seri Kembangan state assemblyman’s office, Sukri explained that the location was chosen because it symbolised the occurrence of “barbarism” towards the monarchy.
“We did it in front of the SUK because this is where the barbarity occurred. This is symbolic in that the dignity of this House (Selangor State Legislative assembly) must be protected,” justified the PAS Shah Alam division head.
“We also (again) reminded the Seri Kembangan state assemblywoman to apologise.”.
In a related matter, Sukri also stressed that Selangor PAS will continue to work with Selangor UMNO and other parties on issues involving the interests of the Malays, Islam and the sovereignty of the Malay rulers.
“For the sake of Muslims and our homeland, we share a similar stance on issues pertaining to the Malays, Islam and the sovereignty of the Malay rulers,” he added. – Focus Malaysia
