Sumud Nusantara Command Centre says five ships were halted by the IDF in a legitimate maritime passageway near Cyprus.

PETALING JAYA: Eight Malaysians taking part in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 have been detained by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) after five ships were halted in the waters near Cyprus.
Sumud Nusantara Command Centre director-general Sani Araby Abdul Alim Araby said the Malaysians were detained between 3pm and 6pm today, Berita Harian reported.

Sani Araby said the IDF had aggressively approached their ships about 241 nautical miles off Gaza’s shoreline.
He said the ships were in a legitimate international maritime passageway protected by the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
The eight Malaysians detained are Zainal Rashid Ahmad, Shazly Shees, Tengku Ahmad Taufik Nor Zahari, S Patmanathan, Amirul Afif Azhar, Syakirin Senin, Muhsin Zaidi and Ahmad Musa Al-Nuwayri Kamaruzaman. - FMT
