KUALA LUMPUR: FamilyMart Malaysia has suspended an employee who allegedly threw hot soup at a delivery rider, as seen in a viral video.
In a statement yesterday, the convenience store chain apologised for the employee's actions and for the delay in providing an update.
It said it had attended to the wellbeing of the delivery rider, cooperated fully with the authorities in their investigation, and continued its own internal probe.
"FamilyMart Malaysia reiterates that we do not tolerate any rude, unsafe or disrespectful behaviour towards anyone, including customers, staff, delivery personnel and business partners at our stores.
"We will not compromise in taking the necessary action, and we remain committed to ensuring that our stores are safe and respectful spaces for everyone.
"We have also reminded employees of their training on good customer service practices.
"Thank you for your patience, care and support."
On May 28, a video surfaced online showing a female FamilyMart employee throwing hot oden soup at a delivery rider across a counter, sparking widespread outrage.
The incident reportedly took place at a FamilyMart outlet in Kota Damansara and is believed to have been filmed by the rider following what appeared to be an earlier argument between the two. - NST
