The 34-year-old foreign national was allegedly stabbed four times by a friend following a drunken altercation.

In the 1.30am incident, which took place behind a vehicle showroom, the 34-year-old foreign national was stabbed four times. His body was later found in a nearby manhole, Sinar Harian reported.
Acting Kota Kinabalu police chief Syed Lot Syed Ab Rahman said police were informed of the incident at 1.40am, and a report was lodged at 2.23am.
He said preliminary investigations found that the victim had gone out with the suspect for drinks in the Penampang area. They returned to their quarters at the site at about 11pm.
“However, an argument ensued between the two, believed to have been due to a misunderstanding while they were both drunk.
“The victim is believed to have hit the suspect with a piece of wood. The suspect then stabbed him four times with a vegetable knife,” Syed Lot was quoted as saying.
He said the Sabah police criminal investigation department’s forensic team had inspected the scene, while the victim’s body had been sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital I for an autopsy.
“Efforts to trace and arrest the suspect, and to seize the weapon he used, are ongoing,” he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. - FMT
