After waiting for more than 11 years, singer Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin, 39, gave birth to a 3.55kg baby girl via caesarean section at a medical centre in Kuala Lumpur at 8.17am this morning.
Her husband, Khalid Mohamad Jiwa, 59, said both daughter and mother were in good health.
He also expressed his gratitude for the safe and smooth labour and said they chose Monday for the birth of their first child, as the Prophet Muhammad was born on the day, and coincidentally, the first day of the Islamic month of Rejab.
“Thank you for all the prayers and support from family members, friends, fans and media practitioners throughout her pregnancy till birth.
“For the time being, Siti needs some space to relax and concentrate on the early days of motherhood,” Khalid said in a statement posted by Siti Nurhaliza’s manager, Rozi Abdul Razak, on the singer’s official Facebook page today.
Born in Kuala Lipis, Pahang, Siti Nurhaliza tied the knot with Khalid, better known as "Datuk K," on Aug 21, 2006 at the Federal Territory Mosque, Kuala Lumpur.
She shared the good news about her pregnancy last October.
