DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng has branded those who claim that his father, veteran politician Kit Siang, is the top man in DAP as liars.
"This kind of lies are not worth commenting on," he told a press conference in Penang today.
"Everyone knows the DAP secretary-general post is the top post in the party. If he wants to lie, I do not want to go down to his level," he added.
Lim, who is also Penang chief minister, was responding to BN strategic communications deputy director Eric See- To.
See-To had argued that Kit Siang was the head honcho of DAP after Lim dismissed MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong's challenge to a public debate on the Penang undersea tunnel issue.
Lim claimed that Wee was not qualified to issue the challenge since he was the number two in MCA.
The chief minister argued that only MCA president Liow Tiong Lai was qualified to do so.
Lim said See-To (photo) can take whatever action against him for calling the BN man a liar and claimed that the latter was fond of suing people.
"He is a liar to mention this. He can take whatever action he wants against me for saying that he is lying. After all, he likes to sue people.
"He sued me once before and then he withdrew the case," he said.
Ironically, Lim's critics have also accused the DAP leader of dragging people and the media to court on a regular basis.
Apart from calling him a “coward” for not agreeing to the debate, See-To also accused the chief minister of being arrogant.
This was in response to Lim telling Wee that he is the leader of a party which won 38 parliament seats in the last general election while the latter was deputy president of a party which only won seven.
Meanwhile, Wee, in a statement this afternoon, accused Lim of conjuring “pages of excuses” to dodge the debate.
The MCA leader claimed this is because the chief minister knows that he would be defeated if the two faced each other. -Mkini
