How much state land sold since 2008, Guan Eng asked

Penang Gerakan leader Jason Loo wants Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng or his state executive councillors to list out the details of state land that have been sold since they took power in 2008 after the 12th general election.
Loo asked how many plots of land have been transferred to and sold by the Chief Minister Incorporated (CMI) since it was set up in 2009.
"Why does the state government need to park land under the CMI before the plots are sold to private developers?" Loo said when met outside the Magistrate’s Court in George Town today.
"No other CM, from Wong Pow Nee to Dr Lim Chong Eu and Koh Tsu Koon, needed a CMI to successfully govern the state for 51 years.
"But the state government under Guan Eng's leadership set up the CMI within a year since he took over the state," Loo said.
"Why is there no board of members or committees in the CMI?" he asked.
Loo met reporters outside the court today to update them on the three defamation lawsuits filed by Guan Eng against him.
He said he is in discussion with his lawyer to strike out one of the suits. However, he declined to elaborate on the details of the case.
The lawsuits centred around Loo's statements on the controversial Penang undersea tunnel project and sale of state land on Peel Avenue to a private hospital for the expansion of its medical facility.
Loo also said that if every inch of state-owned land was being sold quietly, then very soon the entire state would be sold off and Penangites left with nothing.
"Where is the future of Penangites when all state land, which actually belongs to the people, are sold to private developers to build high-density apartments or condominiums for rich investors?" asked the Gerakan Pulau Tikus coordinator.
"Most worrying is when the DAP state government set up the CMI as an easier platform for the state to sell land plots to private developers," Loo added.
Malaysiakini has contacted the chief minister and state executive councillor Chow Kon Yeow for their response. -Mkini
