'If Chin Tong wins Ayer Hitam, Harapan will win Putrajaya'

GE14 | DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng believes that should Johor DAP chief Liew Chin Tong win the Ayer Hitam parliamentary seat in Johor, Pakatan Harapan will follow suit by winning Putrajaya in the coming general election.
'If he wins, Pakatan will win Putrajaya. We cannot win Putrajaya without winning seats like Ayer Hitam," Lim said at a press conference at the party's headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today.
On Liew, who is set to contest against the current Ayer Hitam MP Wee Ka Siong, who is also MCA deputy president, Lim said this was not a battle between two personalities.
"It's a battle for Malaysia's future. This is a battle for the soul of the country. Because of that, we are sending a DAP general so that we can ensure we will win the future.
"If we cannot win Ayer Hitam, it is not possible for us to win Putrajaya," Lim said.
Support from the Malays, he added, was especially crucial in this matter.
"If this doesn't happen, it will be hard (to win Putrajaya). This is why we are confident that with Liew, a Malay tsunami will occur because they are sick of the goods and services tax (GST) and the scandals."
Liew, added Lim (photo), has proven that he was leading by example by leaving his secure seat in Kluang and contesting in a "dangerous" area.
"It's an example that he is confident of this wave that will not only drown BN but at the same time will save Malaysia.
Taking the opportunity to launch a donation drive for Liew's campaign, Lim called on the people to donate to this cause.
"I want to stress that this is a battle between BN and the rakyat. BN supports policies that burden the rakyat like the GST and the (various) scandals."
Lim, meanwhile, said that Liew will be among DAP's ministerial candidates if he wins Ayer Hitam and if Harapan wins in the general election.
Liew was declared as Harapan's Ayer Hitam candidate for the general election on Sunday.
Wee won the Malay-majority seat by 7,310 votes over Hu Pang Chow who contested under PAS' ticket in the last general election. -Mkini
