GE14 | Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad has questioned the source of funds to be used by caretaker prime minister Najib Abdul Razak to realise his last minute list of "goodies" announced on the eve of polling day.
"That is why (I am questioning), he's giving so many goodies, he cuts taxes, he spends so much, where is he getting the money (from)?
"He's not collecting taxes but he wants to spend so much... Does he want to borrow or does he want to sell the country?" Mahathir tells reporters when met at the Langkawi Community College.
Mahathir said this when asked to comment on Najib's special GE14 address last night where he announced a special tax break for those aged below 26, as well as an extra two days public holiday on May 14 and May 15, should BN retains federal power after polling closes today.
Najib had also announced that there will be no toll payments collected over five days during the Aidilfitri holidays next month.
Mahathir earlier visited the polling centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Teriang Chenang Community College to see the voters turnout so far.
While at the college, his arrival was greeted with shouts of "Hidup Tun!" and applause by a number of supporters.
Following his visit, Mahathir is expected to cast his ballot in Titi Gajah, Alor Setar. - Mkini
