GE14 | BN leader Najib Abdul Razak appeared to have initially mixed up the state and parliament ballot boxes while posing for the cameras.
He had tweeted a photo of himself casting his vote by dipping the white state ballot into the ballot box meant for the orange parliamentary ballot.
That Twitter post was later deleted after a barrage of Twitter users pointed out that he had made a mistake.
However, another post by Najib contained a photograph of him holding the white ballot slip in one hand, while inserting the orange ballot slip into the correct box.
Despite deleting the post, numerous netizens had already reposted the photograph to argue that the confusion likely stemmed from the widespread mistaken labelling of state and parliamentary ballot boxes.
Electoral reforms group Bersih said that the wrong labels will not affect the count because the ballots will be sorted according to colour during the counting process.
