PAS reminds political parties not to offend royalty

PAS today reminded political parties in the country not to offend the royal institution in the midst of politicking.
The party's deputy president, Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, said the royalty is the only institution that is free from any sentiment or influence.
"As such, PAS would like to advise all parties and politicians to respect the royal institution.
"Regardless of any political dispute, we should not go beyond this border.
"We should be careful and ensure that our actions do not affect the royal institution," he said in a statement today.
Should the royalty get offended, added Tuan Ibrahim, the rakyat will have no defence against "arrogant characters who feel they are beyond reproach."
His reminder comes after Perlis Umno chief Shahidan Kassim and nine BN assemblypersons in the state incurred the wrath of the state ruler for refusing to backAzlan Man as menteri besar.
This led to political turmoil in the state, after Azlan was sacked from Umno just hours after being sworn in.
On Thursday, Perlis raja Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail said that he did not appoint Shahidan's brother Ismail Kassim as menteri besar because he feared that the state government would be rendered mere "puppets."
Shahidan himself denied being derhaka (treasonous) against the raja, and once again questioned the legal basis of the court term.
“What is the meaning of derhaka? What is the meaning of murka?
“I do not understand these words because they are not mentioned in the law. What about the rakyat who are currently angry?" he asked yesterday.
Sabah BN chairperson Musa Aman, meanwhile, is wanted by police over alleged criminal intimidation of state governor Juhar Mahiruddin, pertaining to his shortlived stint as Sabah chief minister after the recent polls.

He has denied the allegation, however.
After being replaced by Parti Warisan Sabah president Mohd Shafie Apdal, Musa filed suit against Shafie and the governor seeking to be declared the lawful chief minister. - Mkini
