GE14 | Malacca PKR chief Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin has announced that former Umno ministers Rafidah Aziz and Daim Zainuddin will be attending a ceramah perdana in Malacca this Friday.
They will be joining Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad for the night programme at the state seat of Bukit Katil, previously known as Bukit Baru.
“I managed to speak to Daim’s son and insya Allah, he will join us on May 4 (Friday) in the programme with Mahathir.
“And I don’t know whether I can say this yet, but Rafidah will also be joining us that night,” Shamsul said to applause from a crowd of 250 at a ceramah in Ayer Keroh tonight.
Rafidah was the international trade and industries minister and Daim the finance minister during Mahathir’s premiership.
Known as the ‘Iron Lady’, Rafidah has been critical of the government in recent months.
Daim, who kept relatively quiet before, has begun to appear on the campaign trail for Harapan.
While campaigning for Lembah Pantai candidate Fahmi Fadzil tonight, he said he made the decisiondue to the government’s insistence on bulldozing the redelineation report and Anti-Fake News bill through Parliament.
Shamsul is Harapan’s candidate for the Hang Tuah Jaya (previously Bukit Katil) parliamentary seat, where he will defend his incumbency against former Malacca chief minister Mohd Ali Rustam.
Ayer Keroh and Bukit Katil are state seats under Hang Tuah Jaya. -Mkini
