PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said the new Pakatan Harapan government should proceed with the swearing in the process while her husband and party de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim recovers.
Anwar, who is presently serving a jail term but is held at the Cheras Rehabilitation Hospital while recovering from a shoulder surgery, is expected to be released on Wednesday following a pardon.
"In terms of administration, Anwar is an experienced administrator that he became the acting prime minister.
"But give him time to recover and the new government should be allowed to take its oath of loyalty to the country.
"Let that process be completed before he becomes active (in politics). We'll see how long it takes," she told journalists when met at the Cheras Rehabilitation Hospital this evening.
Wan Azizah said the country was experiencing the first transition in government after six decades and some time was needed for the "healing process".
The Pardons Board was initially to meet tomorrow on granting Anwar a pardon but this was delayed to Wednesday, which is also the first day of Ramadan.
The meeting will be chaired by the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong and also be attended by, among others, Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and solicitor-general II Zauyah Be T Loth Khan.
PKR will be mobilising supporters to the hospital on Wednesday where Anwar is expected to deliver a speech. - Mkini
